Adrenaline at a Scale of 1:10

28. January 2026

Spectacular racing series by the German Minicar Club at INTERMODELLBAU 2026

Here, a vehicle launches itself over a ramp. There, another takes a corner so
tightly that spectators are left open-mouthed. Just a few meters further on, there
is a small crash into the barrier. And throughout it all, a constant buzzing fills the
air. No, we are not at the Nürburgring – we are in the exhibition halls of Dortmund,
right in the middle of INTERMODELLBAU. More precisely, in Hall 5 at the stand of
the German Minicar Club (DMC). The racing series on the large circuit are among
the absolute crowd pullers of the trade fair. That is why the DMC will once again
be taking part in 2026 – with new highlights in tow.

Dortmund, 28 January 2026 – At the joint stand of the DMC and the Minicar Club Dortmund,
there will be plenty of action every day during the world’s largest trade fair for model building
and model sports, taking place from April 16 to 19. One of the highlights kicking things off is
the Indoor Trade Fair Cup featuring 1:10 scale on-road vehicles. This trade fair cup, which
will also include Porsche vehicles, will be held in this group for the first time. On Friday, the
Tamiya Cup follows, along with another new addition: drivers will compete against each other
for the first time in the Race Truck class (truck bodies on 1:10 on-road chassis). This is a
particularly interesting class in which drivers send detailed model racing trucks onto the track.

Further thrilling racing series will attract spectators to the elaborately designed circuit in Hall
5 over the weekend. Vehicles in the M-Chassis, LMH, GT Sport, and Group C classes will
compete against one another. On Sunday, the action continues with the Porsche Cup and
spectacular races in the VTA class.

Experience the diversity of vehicle classes
From compact sports cars and classic muscle cars to GT models and vehicles familiar to
motorsport fans from the Le Mans races, everything is represented – making for an exciting
mix for both drivers and visitors to INTERMODELLBAU. And it is about more than just
entertainment: with their race results, participants collect points toward qualification for the
World Championships. Cheering is therefore highly encouraged! The DMC expects around 80 to 90 active participants per day competing for points toward World Championship qualification.

Of course, visitors to INTERMODELLBAU are also invited to try it out themselves – especially
the younger ones. On a dedicated children’s off-road test track, young talents can take their
first laps with 1:16 scale short-course buggies. There is even a chance to win a prize: the
most promising young talent will receive a trial day at a real club racetrack.

Young talents – a perfect keyword. Attracting the next generation is a key goal for both the
German Minicar Club and the Minicar Club Dortmund. Monika Geistmann, Chairwoman of
Minicar Club Dortmund e.V., explains: “INTERMODELLBAU is not only something our longstanding drivers look forward to, as they compete in important races as part of the regional championships. We also inspire an incredible number of young visitors here. This is crucial, as many clubs are lacking committed young members. At INTERMODELLBAU, it’s not only
minicar enthusiasts who stop by, but also visitors who may have had no prior connection to
the topic – and whom we can win over with this fantastic sport, the atmosphere, and the
strong sense of community at our stand. Very often, our appearance at the Dortmund trade
fair is followed by new club registrations.”

New fans can equip themselves just as well as experienced racers at the trade fair.
Manufacturers such as Tamiya-Carson Modellbau GmbH & Co. KG, Kyosho Europe,
Carrera Revell Europe GmbH, and Hartweg R/C will be exhibiting at INTERMODELLBAU.
Retailers such as s-idee and Modellbau & Lokschuppen Berlinski will also be presenting
their products again this year.

This is set to remain the case this year as well. Anyone whose curiosity has been sparked
can already secure tickets for INTERMODELLBAU 2026 – with a small price advantage when
purchasing via the online ticket shop.
