New date for INTERMODELLBAU
Due to current developments Messe Dortmund GmbH has postponed INTERMODELLBAU, the world's largest trade fair for model making and model sports. This is the Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe's reaction to the worldwide corona pandemic and the order of the responsible authorities.
Previous date INTERMODELLBAU: 23 - 26 April 2020
New date INTERMODELLBAU: 13 - 16 August 2020
Is there a new date for the postponed INTERMODELLBAU?
Yes, the INTERMODELLBAU 2020 will take place from 13 to 16 August 2020.
Is this decision final or is there still a chance that the fair will take place?
The fair will not take place in April due to force majeure. The new date is mentioned above.
Is my ticket still valid?
If the date of the trade fair is postponed, purchased tickets remain valid. If you are unable to attend the new trade fair date, you can exchange trade fair tickets. Please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I cancel gift tickets?
Yes, the gift tickets can be cancelled. To do so, gift tickets sent by post must be scanned or photographed in the original and sent by e-mail to email@example.com.
What happens to my Deutsche Bahn tickets?
The official goodwill regulations of Deutsche Bahn apply here:
"For travellers with tickets to areas in Italy affected by the coronavirus, DB is maintaining its goodwill arrangement: customers who no longer wish to travel can have their ticket refunded free of charge. The same applies with immediate effect to passengers with a DB ticket for whom the specific reason for travel is no longer applicable due to the coronavirus (e.g. official cancellation of a trade fair, concert, sporting event or similar). The free refund also applies in the event that a booked hotel in the destination (possibly abroad) is under quarantine. We kindly ask affected customers to contact the sales outlets and customer service channels of DB."
Am I automatically listed as an exhibitor for the new date?
Yes, we have listed you for the new date.
Do I keep my stand space in August 2020?
Basically yes. You will receive a stand confirmation with all details in good time. It cannot be ruled out that the current situation may make it necessary to relocate your stand.
What happens if I am unable to attend the new date?
You have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days of receipt of the postponement. Cancellation must be made in writing form, see § 8.3 General Conditions of Participation.
What happens to booked hotel rooms etc.?
Booked accommodation must be cancelled by you with the respective facilities. The respective general terms and conditions of the accommodation apply.
What happens to booked means of transport (car, truck, train, plane etc.)?
Booked means of transport must be cancelled by you with the respective facilities. The respective general terms and conditions of the transportation providers apply.
What is the procedure for my ordered services at Messe Dortmund (power and water connections, rigging, carpeting, stand construction, lighting, parking tickets etc.)?
The services ordered from the Messe Dortmund online service are cancelled free of charge. You will receive new access data for the trade fair date.

Effects of the Coronavirus
In recent weeks Messe Dortmund had already postponed the first spring trade fair dates in response to the decree of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, in order to minimise the risks of further transmission and to interrupt infection chains as far as possible. The official ban on events and the now extended restrictions on public life until 19 April stand in the way of the feasibility of INTERMODELLBAU, as the already planned and necessary set-up work for the trade fair is affected by the ban.
There has never been such an exceptional situation for the entire trade fair world. Sabine Loos, General Manager of the Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe: "We very much regret the situation that has arisen and ask for understanding from our exhibitors, visitors and partners in the current situation. The Corona Pandemic once again illustrates what an integral part annual planning and participation is for numerous companies, associations and visitors. After all, only trade fairs offer such national and international exchange on a professional level and at the same time the opportunity to prepare future business activities ideally, to get to know products and to cultivate old and new contacts.
All sides have been working flat out to find an alternative date for INTERMODELLBAU 2020, so that this year hundreds of exhibitors will again be able to present their products from the fields of aircraft, railway, ship, car, functional and cardboard model making at the Dortmund Exhibition Centre. Tickets purchased so far will remain valid and can be used for the above-mentioned date.
